The assessment process doesn’t have to be teacher-centered. Why not get your students involved? It’s their learning we’re monitoring after all. I firmly believe that finding new and innovating ways to include kids in the data collection process is one of the BEST ways to increase student autonomy, motivation and engagement! The look on student’s faces when they see their growth and development for the first time, is truly priceless!

There is SO much power in transforming the learning process from an abstract, imaginary process that young children struggle to visualize to a very concrete, tangible process that they can see, touch, and feel!

Identifying where each student is academically, can be a very challenging and time consuming task at the beginning of the year! Yet, understanding what each student knows and doesn’t know, is the first (and most important) step in meeting their needs.

This Student Data Folder makes it quick and easy to identify your student’s needs, track their progress and increase student autonomy. It is student-centered, making it simple for students to independently measure their proficiency, set learning goals, track their own progress, reflect on the learning process, and most importantly, visually represent their growth and development throughout the course of the ENTIRE school year!

I’ve also included high-frequency word lists (decodable words & words with irregular parts) all of which are broken down by sound and/or skill. Each list comes with a data tracking sheet.
