Description

This math calendar bulletin board set has everything you need to teach and review math concepts throughout the ENTIRE school year. All the math components included with this calendar relate back to a number of the day or days of school (this set includes both). It also includes all the traditional calendar components as well. The BEST part of implementing math calendar time in your classroom is the repetition it creates.

I use math calendar everyday as an “introduction” to my daily math block. Some teachers add each component as they teach it (money for example). I do it a bit differently. I display all components at the beginning of the year and scaffold students as needed. I do a ton of “thinking out loud” when it comes to time and money because those two concepts aren’t taught until the middle of the school year. Fostering metacognition is my jam! Teaching “a little” each day has really improved the level of mastery at the end of the year. Brain based teaching tells us that when a concept or skill is taught repetitively, it is more likely to be stored in long term memory, rather than stored temporarily in short term memory where it is easily forgotten.

The following topics/skills are included in this set:

  • Month of the Year
  • Day of the Week
  • Number of the day
  • Days in school
  • Today’s date
  • Today’s digital date
  • Yesterday was, today is, tomorrow will be
  • Weather
  • Tens frames (with printable “counters”)
  • Even/ odd
  • Counting by 2’s, 5’s, & 10’s
  • Greater than / less than
  • Word form
  • Tallies
  • Fact families
  • 100’s chart
  • 10 more, 10 less, 1 more, 1 less
  • Place value (with manipulatives)
  • Money (with manipulatives and coin posters)
  • Time – Analog & Digital

  • Also includes a student sheet for those who wish to use it. You could also choose to have students follow along with you on whiteboards. I usually start the year off with the student sheet and then transition to white boards as students get more familiar with the math calendar routine.

All you need to do is print, and laminate. Use wipe off markers and ask your “room cleaners” to clean each afternoon or morning and you are set for the next calendar time!

Please see the preview for more of what is included!

I appreciate YOU!

Sincerely,
