Morphology Self-Checking Task Cards with Vowel Suffixes Bundle

Description

These self-correcting task cards are a fun and effective way for your students or child to practice reading and spelling words containing the vowel suffixes: -ed, -ing, -y, -es, -er, and -est.

This bundle includes over 200 self-checking task cards.

Each set of self-checking task cards contains words with the 4 main suffixing conventions (when applicable)

1. Just add the suffix (buzzed, meeting)

2. Double the final consonant and add the vowel suffix (skipped, stunning)

3. Drop the final silent e and add the vowel suffix (hoped, baker)

4. Change y to i and add the suffix (tried, emptiest)

Set #1:

Students:

• Select a card
• Scan the word for the suffix (circle or box it in)
• Isolate and write the base in the corresponding box
• Write the suffix in the corresponding box
• Read each part then the whole word
• Flip the card over to check their work
• Read the sentence

Set #2:

Students:

• Select a card
• Scan the word for the suffix (circle or box it in)
• Isolate and write the base in the corresponding box
• Write the suffix in the corresponding box
• Read each part then the whole word
• Complete the word sum
• Circle the suffixing convention(s) used
• Flip the card over to check their work
