These structured literacy phonics lessons align to the Science of Reading and included everything you need to teach the suffix -er and -est to mastery! These phonics and morphology lessons can be used to supplement or strengthen ANY core literacy program or curriculum. • Lesson #4: Derivational suffix -er (a person who)
• Lesson #5: Spelling words with -er & -est (all meanings) Students apply what they’ve learned to add -er and -est to base words. The “Drop (wiser), Double (shopper), Change (funnier)” spelling generalizations are taught and practiced.
• Lesson #6: Mini-Lesson on Irregular Adjectives (bad/worse/worst, good/better/best, far/farther/further/farthest/furthest)

How to Use:

• Use the instructional slides for whole group instruction (perfect for small group, too). Instructional slides are interactive! I’ve also included additional slides for practice and review throughout the year! Repetition is the key to mastery!
• Use the student printables and practice sheets to provide intentional practice in small groups or during independent work time. Your must-do’s are included!
• Use the picture and word cards as a word work center or in a small group.
• Display the classroom posters and anchor charts at a center or designated place in the classroom. Students will reference and refer back to these all year long. I have included anchor charts and posters for ALL skills taught!
